With the help of a friend, I planned and cohosted a ASL night at the local coffee shop. People from the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community came to chat and make friends. It was great to see friendships grow here in Cedar City. We hosted events once a month from February through May. We are eager to restart these evenings this fall.
Along with hosting ASL nights at the Grind, my friend and I interpreted Mary Lamberts song "Secrets" and performed it at SUU's second studio production of SUU Live in March 2017
My EDGE project has taught me that language matters and when we take the time to connect with others in their language, we open ourselves to friendships that otherwise would have not been possible.
